Correct way? Anime eyes are prolly the most incorrect way to draw an eye. Srsly eyes aren't supposed to have sharp edges that look as if they can cut glass. Irises aren't supposed to be so long that if someone were to look through them, everything would be distorted like a fish eye lens.

But that's just me...

No offense, all of these are practically the same. You might want to try drawing an actual realistic eye before you draw a stylized one.

I agree, though people have there ways of drawing things... I mean there isn't really a correct way to draw eyes.... even with "realistic eyes"..... your drawings, my drawings, everyone's drawings are diffrent...

but I have to say the eyes here look like there for nekos

No, those don't even look like CAT eyes. Cat eyes are round (depending on the cat since some are wide eyed and others have a half open eye expression) the pupils change from round to slats but that's the closest it gets.

You're right, there's no correct way to stylize an eye but there are BETTER ways. But generally speaking you should learn the basics of a realistically shaped eye before you stylize them. Otherwise you don't have much to build off from and improvement slows to a crawl.

That's ture, but were talking about anime here... not some realistic drawing and such..... also the fact that you say "better ways" your just implying on what you want to see and not what the artist/fan sees (not just him others as well) and I'm pretty much doing the same...

again people have their own styles...

Anime or not, I'm talking about drawing in general. Don't throw that "It's my style so it's ok" thing, I've heard enough of it to last me a lifetime.

I'm simply saying that if a person wants to draw in an appealing style, they should first learn the basics. I say better, in a general sense. I used to draw in anime style and believe me, it's hard to kick the habit when you want to move onto better things. And if you want to learn how to draw anime in general, knowing how to draw PERIOD is a valuable tool that will keep you from drawing flat uninteresting stuff.

People have their own styles. Yes, that much is true. But copying some anime style and calling it your own isn't much of one.

Trying to draw something stylized when you have no understanding of what you're drawing leads to bland and uninteresting pictures. You can copy something in your head or you can use your understanding to recreate a drawing how you want to see it.

Get it?
